Residential Drop-off Sites: NOW OPEN 24/7!

Food waste composting drop-off—whenever, and as often, as you need

September 7, 2023

It’s the moment we’ve long been waiting for…

We are so excited to announce that as of Tuesday, September 5th, Worm Works’s food waste composting drop-off sites are open 24/7 to subscribers!

Worm Works subscribers can now bring their food waste to our Residential Drop-off locations whenever, and as often, as is convenient for them! That’s right, no more tricky drop-off time windows. Run those food scraps on over!

We are proud of this significant step towards making composting more accessible and more convenient than ever in our Northern VA neighborhoods.

How does the Residential Drop-off Service work?

We take the trouble out of composting.

  1. You collect your food scraps and other organic waste in a sealable, leak-proof bucket we provide.

  2. At any point during the week and as often as you would like, you bring your scraps to the drop-off site closest to you and toss them in one of our signature green-lidded bins. Quick. Convenient.

  3. We pick up the bins and take them to Gathering Springs Farm in Middleburg, VA to put the worms to work, treat our compost piles, and produce premium compost to give back to you for your garden. It’s hassle-free, and it’s good for our local environment.

Where is my designated drop-off site?

Subscribers have access to all our drop-off sites in Reston, Herndon, Ashburn, Brambleton, Willowsford, Sterling, Cascades, Lowes Island, Landsdowne, Leesburg, and Middleburg. We are constantly working on expanding across Loudoun and Fairfax counties to bring composting closer to all residents.

NOTE FOR WILLOWSFORD RESIDENTS: Our newest site at the Willowsford Farm Stand is our only site that retains its limited drop-off hours (Thursday’s 4:00-7:00 p.m.; Saturday’s 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.), due to the farm stand’s hours of operation. Stay tuned through October to hear from us when these hours expand.
